After months of work by a team of CGI artists in Southern California, we have produced our first 30 second TV Broadcast commercial. The commercial takes the viewer around the Skull Coast 12YO bottle, from the Golden Age of Piracy to the present day, to show the history of the dreaded Skull Coast pirates. To view the commercial click below. While viewing make sure you change your YouTube settings to watch in 1080p HD. Enjoy!
Our state-of-the-art bottling facility outside Amsterdam in Holland has more than 50 employees, who absolutely love their jobs! Who wouldn't? All day long they are surrounded by the best liquor in the European Union.
For those that have never been inside a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art facility such as where we bottle our Skull Coast 12YO Rum, "Rule One" is Cleanliness Is Next To Godliness.
Every person who enters the facility is required to don a hair net and lab coat. No exceptions.
Besides the work, there are roaming bands of workers who constantly clean and repair the equipment. Every inch of the facility is given the once over, every day, 365 days a year.
Did you know our rum yeast is only used once?
We propagate our yeast for each run. Unlike the beer industry, where yeast is recycled and reused multiple times, we take our proprietary strain of yeast and propagate it for each individual run.
While we have a few tweaks to do, please check out our new rum bottle design. Rather than this just be a label, it is decorated or, more accurately, painted directly onto the bottle.
Just in time for the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival, the TTB approved our application for a Importer and Wholesaler Permit this week. So, in addition to our Malt Beverage permit, we can now import and sell our distilled spirits to distributors across the United States.
Skull Coast will be attending the Miami Rum Festival, April 25-27th, 2014
If you are looking for an exceptional rum-beer cocktail for this St. Patrick's Day, you may want to consider combining "Skull Spice" rum with Guinness. We found the following recipe online, called the "Morgasm" or "Blackbeard":
2 oz. of Skull Spice rum (over ice)
fill with cola, leaving 2-3 oz. of room on the top
2 oz. of Guinness
Apparently, the author of "When the Rum is Gone" came upon this particular beer cocktail while traveling in Edinburgh, Scotland. Okay, it's not Ireland, but it includes Guinness -- which is what we were looking for in our search.
